HUSBAND AND WIFE TEAM FIGHT ILLNESSES WITH SPACE AGE TECHNOLOGY

(ARLINGTON, VA)—In 1998, Michael and Irena Slage embarked on a mission to help chronically ill patients better manage their healthcare.  She was a Russian immigrant attempting to achieve the American dream and he saw the opportunity to use space age technology to benefit those on Earth.  The result is HealthEngage Asthma software, a program which allows patients to collect, store and chart vital health information.  The product can be used on computers, handheld devices and web-enabled cellular phones.

CEO Irena Slage knows that " by using the software, asthma sufferers will be better able to manage their healthcare and activities by having the ability to enter health information at any time from any place.  Medical doctors will also be able to review patient information in a more useful manner.  A recent study showed that, with proper management, the number of asthma-related deaths could fall to almost zero.  We believe that we have found that management tool."

As FireLogic President Michael Slage explains, "The concept for the software came as a result of my work at NASA on the International Space Station and Planning for Human Missions to Mars. The telemedicine program, as it is called at NASA, was too expensive and bulky to be practical for use on Earth.  Myself, Irena and our advisors, including the Chief Medical Officer of NASA, decided to utilize new telecommunication and handheld computer technology.  This allows health data management to be brought down to Earth for use by ordinary chronic disease sufferers."

The pair have recently opened a West Coast office near the Silicon Valley and their hard work and dedication is beginning to help asthma sufferers.  The dream is slowing becoming reality as scientists, physicians, and other professionals have joined their team with the same dedication to helping people manage their illnesses.  The firm has plans to release software for hypertension and diabetes patients in the near future.

A free trial version of the Asthma HealthEngage software can be downloaded at www.HealthEngage.com.
