FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Sharon Pizer ASTHMATICS CELEBRATE HIGH-TECH BREAKTHROUGH (ARLINGTON, VA and LIVERMORE, CA)Asthma sufferers are celebrating worldwide as FireLogic, Inc. announces its new HealthEngage Software. The Software allows asthma sufferers to collect, store and chart vital health information. It can be used on PCs, Macs, handheld devices such as Palms and web-enabled cellular phones. Using this software, asthma sufferers, including children, will be better able to manage their healthcare and activities by having the ability to enter health information at any time from any place. Medical doctors will also be able to review patient information in a more useful manner in simple charts and records and through online access. A recent study showed that, with proper management, the number of asthma-related deaths could fall to almost zero; FireLogic believes that it has found that management tool. As FireLogic President Michael Slage explains,
"The concept for the software came as a result of my work at NASA
on the International Space Station and Planning for Human Missions to
Mars. The telemedicine program, as it is called at NASA, was too expensive
and bulky to be practical for use on Earth. Our advisors, including
the Chief Medical Officer of NASA, and the other founders of FireLogic
decided to utilize new telecommunication and handheld computer technology.
This allows health data management to be brought down to Earth for use
by ordinary chronic disease sufferers." FireLogic began in 1998 and is comprised of scientists, physicians, and other professionals dedicated to helping chronically ill patients better manage their healthcare. The firm has plans to release software for other chronic illnesses, such as hypertension and diabetes, in the near future.
