FIRELOGIC OPENS NEW WEST COAST OFFICE

(LIVERMORE, CA)—FireLogic is celebrating the opening of its West Coast offices in Livermore, California, on the cusp of the Silicon Valley.  The firm, headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, is celebrating with the establishment of its new HealthEngage Software. The Software allows asthma sufferers to collect, store and chart vital health information. It can be used on computers, handheld devices and web-enabled cellular phones.

FireLogic President Michael Slage believes that "a West Coast office was necessary to help cater to the 2.3 million Californians who suffer from asthma.  Also, hospitalizations for asthma cost the state more than $350 million each year; our product can reduce these costs.  We also felt the need to be closer to our partners on the West Coast such as Apple, Sun Microsystems and Handspring.

The concept for the software came as a result of Slage's work at NASA on the International Space Station and Planning for Human Missions to Mars. The telemedicine program, as it is called at NASA, was too expensive and bulky to be practical for use on Earth.  The company's advisors, including the Chief Medical Officer of NASA, and the other founders of FireLogic decided to utilize new telecommunication and handheld computer technology.  This allows health data management to be brought down to Earth for use by ordinary chronic disease sufferers.

FireLogic began in 1998 and is comprised of scientists, physicians, and other professionals dedicated to helping chronically ill patients better manage their healthcare.  The firm has plans to release software for hypertension and diabetes patients in the near future.
