FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Sharon Pizer TOMORROWS TECHNOLOGY SHOWCASED
IN SAN JOSE FireLogics HealthEngage software is bringing technology from NASA to PCs, handheld devices and web-enabled cellular phones. The first release, HealthEngage Asthma, allows asthma sufferers to collect, store and chart vital health information. A recent study showed that, with a proper management tool, the number of asthma-related deaths could fall to almost zero. FireLogic believes it has found that management tool. As FireLogic President Michael Slage explains, The concept for the software came about as a result of my work at NASA on the International Space Station and Planning for Human Missions to Mars. The Telemedicine program was too expensive and bulky to be practical for use on Earth. Our advisors, including the Chief Medical Officer at NASA, and the other founders of FireLogic, decided to utilize new telecommunication and handheld computer technology. This allows health data management to be brought down to Earth for use by ordinary chronic disease sufferers. Using this new software, the 100 million chronically ill patients in the United States will be better able to manage their healthcare and activities by having the ability to enter health information at any time from any place. Medical doctors will also be able to review patient information in a more useful manner through printable charts and Internet access to patient readings. A free trial version of HealthEngage Asthma
can be downloaded at www.healthengage.com.
The firm has plans to release software for hypertension, diabetes and
weight loss in the near future.
